Brazil's largest utility, Axia Energia, is exploring options to guarantee power supply for a $50 billion data center project in Rio de Janeiro. The project, Rio AI City, is being developed by Elea Data Centers, backed by Goldman Sachs. Axia will conduct engineering and cost studies for an electricity substation to determine necessary upgrades for the project, which aims to put Rio at the forefront of AI in Latin America.
