Boralex Boosts UK Portfolio with 97 MW Expansion

Boralex Inc. ("Boralex" or the "Company") (TSX: BLX) has announced a significant expansion in its UK portfolio with the addition of another 97 MW, including a 50 MW Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). This project, the Clashindarroch Wind Farm Extension, is part of Boralex's strategic plan to significantly increase the share of solar power and make a breakthrough in storage by 2025. The company aims to achieve this by diversifying its geographic presence in Europe and other U.S. states, while accelerating wind power development in Canada. The 145 MW Clashindarroch Wind Farm Extension and adjacent 50 MW BESS will be developed, constructed, and operated through a joint venture between Boralex and Clashindarroch Wind Farm Extension Ltd. The project is located near Dufftown in Moray, Scotland, and is expected to create local jobs and support the community. The wind farm will consist of up to 22 wind turbines, each with an installed capacity of up to 6.6 MW, as well as a battery storage facility of up to 50 MW.

This expansion contributes to the UK's goal of doubling onshore wind capacity by 2030. The project is expected to reduce carbon emissions by approximately 120,000 tonnes annually, based on average UK grid emissions.
