AT&T and Boldyn Networks Expand 5G Connectivity to NYC Subway Tunnels

AT&T and Boldyn Networks have expanded cellular connectivity in the Joralemon Street tunnel and the crosstown G line in New York City, providing faster service and better digital access for subway riders. The Joralemon Street tunnel is the oldest underwater subway tunnel in NYC, connecting Manhattan and Brooklyn. The expanded service is expected to enhance connectivity throughout the subway system.

The Joralemon Street tunnel, the oldest underwater subway tunnel in NYC, connects the 4 and 5 lines between Manhattan and Brooklyn, while the G line runs through some of Brooklyn and Queens' most popular areas, providing critical connections to Manhattan-bound trains.

This expansion will benefit 4/5 train riders traveling between Borough Hall station in Brooklyn to Bowling Green station in Manhattan, as well as G train riders between Court Square station in Queens to Hoyt-Schermerhorn Streets station in Brooklyn. The initiative is part of a broader effort by Boldyn and the MTA to expand 5G connectivity and enhance overall subway system connectivity.

Currently, mobile carrier customers can enjoy cellular service in underground tunnels on the 42nd St Shuttle line and a L line segment between Bedford Avenue station in Brooklyn and 1st Avenue station in Manhattan. Cellular and Wi-Fi connectivity are also available in all underground subway stations.
