Bitget’s recent launch of Real-World Asset (RWA) Index Perpetual Contracts marks a pivotal development in the convergence of traditional and digital finance. On August 20, 2025, the exchange introduced the first-ever RWA Index Perpetual Contract, enabling traders to gain exposure to tokenized versions of real-world assets such as
(AAPL), (NVDA), and (TSLA) through a blockchain-based structure [4]. The product is built on a composite of tokenized stock indices sourced from multiple third-party issuers, ensuring dynamic pricing and transparency. Bitget’s approach allows for the inclusion of diverse RWA tokens, adapting index weights based on factors like liquidity and market activity [1]. This innovation is a strategic move to bridge the gap between traditional finance (TradFi) and decentralized finance (DeFi) [2].Gracy Chen, CEO of Bitget, emphasized the transformative potential of tokenized assets, stating that they could reshape global capital flows and bring trillions of dollars onto blockchain networks [4]. She noted that the integration of tokenized assets into mainstream finance could challenge the dominance of traditional currencies and offer a more efficient and accessible framework for cross-border capital movement. However, Chen also acknowledged that regulatory clarity and infrastructure improvements are critical to unlocking broader adoption. Without such frameworks, she warned, the growth of tokenized asset markets could face significant limitations.
The RWA Index Perpetual Contracts are designed with risk management in mind. Bitget has capped leverage at 10x and restricted trading to a 5×24 schedule, excluding weekends and stock market holidays. During these closures, market prices remain frozen to prevent liquidation, though users can adjust their positions in anticipation of reopening. Funding fees are paused during closures and resume on an hourly cycle when trading resumes [1]. These measures aim to provide a stable trading environment while mitigating early-stage risks. Additionally, Bitget’s use of isolated margin and position limits further reinforces its risk management framework [2].
Bitget’s RWA initiative is not limited to a single region. The exchange has expanded its offerings to include tokenized stocks for Nigerian investors through a partnership with xStocks, enabling them to gain exposure to major U.S. equities without relying on traditional brokerage systems [5]. This move aligns with Nigeria’s evolving crypto regulatory landscape, including updates from the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and improved transaction oversight. Bitget has also joined the Global Markets Alliance by Ondo Finance to standardize and promote interoperability for tokenized securities, enhancing accessibility to global financial products [5].
The broader implications of Bitget’s RWA Index Perpetual Contracts extend beyond product innovation. By leveraging blockchain to fractionalize high-value assets, the exchange is reducing the entry barriers for retail investors, enabling them to access opportunities once reserved for institutional players [3]. This democratization of finance could catalyze a new wave of global investment, particularly in emerging markets where traditional financial infrastructure is less developed. Bitget’s CEO highlighted the importance of tokenization in facilitating cross-border capital flows and reducing reliance on conventional intermediaries, a trend that could redefine the global financial landscape over the coming years [4].
As the market evolves, Bitget plans to expand its RWA offerings, with additional trusted issuers and a broader range of tokenized assets expected to be added later this quarter [1]. The company’s strategic partnerships with entities like LALIGA, UNICEF, and MotoGP underscore its commitment to leveraging blockchain for both financial and social impact. With a user base spanning over 120 million individuals across 150+ countries, Bitget’s RWA Index Perpetual Contracts are poised to influence the future of trading, particularly as more traditional assets are integrated into digital ecosystems [2].
