Blackstone Names Interim BREIT CEO After Wesley LePatner's Death; Rob Harper to Step Up

Blackstone has appointed Rob Harper as the interim CEO of its real estate trust, BREIT, after the death of CEO Wesley LePatner in a shooting at a New York City office tower. Harper, a co-president of BREIT and Blackstone's head of real estate asset management in the Americas, will keep his existing roles while the board searches for a permanent CEO. BREIT is a $53 billion trust with a 9.3% annualized net return since inception.
