BitMine's 10,399-ETH Buy and BMNR Buyback: Real Squeeze Setup or Last Pump?

BitMine's ETH Holdings Are Large, but BMNRBMNR-- Still Carries a Broken-Chart Discount
BitMine sits on around 5.77 million ETH, or 4.8% of Ethereum's total coin supply. Even so, BMNR remains down more than 80% from the highs reached after the company announced its EthereumETH-- treasury strategy. The central tension is straightforward: the accumulation is real, but the market still appears to be discounting the stock heavily.
That disconnect matters because BitMine is no longer in the early "headline" phase of its strategy. The company says it is 96% of the way to the 'Alchemy of 5%' after just 13 months. At this scale, investors cannot easily dismiss the plan as pure marketing. They have to grapple with the fact that Bitmine now owns a meaningful slice of ETH supply.
Bulls argue that BMNR still looks cheap relative to what it controls, especially with 4,917,189 staked ETH earning yield through MAVAN. Bears point to the chart and argue the market has every reason to stay skeptical until price itself starts to change.
BMNR's Setup Depends on Two Supply Channels Shrinking at Once
Staking reduces available ETH, while buybacks reduce tradable shares
BitMine is effectively tightening supply on both sides of the thesis. Roughly 85% of its Ethereum holdings are staked, which removes much of that ETH from normal trading circulation. At the same time, the company has repurchased 6.1 million common shares in the past week under its $4 billion share repurchase program.
When ETH is staked, less of it is readily available in the market. When shares are repurchased, fewer BMNR shares remain outstanding for the same underlying ETH exposure. If demand picks up into a thinner supply setup on both sides, the price reaction could become sharper than the underlying change in holdings.

The balance sheet is now big enough to matter to the equity story
BitMine reports $11.8 billion in crypto, cash, and marketable securities, including roughly $9.6 billion at $1,948 per ETH tied to staked ETH. That makes the balance sheet central to the stock story, not incidental.
Bulls see a potential double-squeeze: less liquid ETH in the market and fewer BMNR shares outstanding. Bears can reasonably counter that staking does not lock supply forever, and that large treasury holdings do not automatically produce a sustained rerating. But even that debate suggests the setup is moving beyond a simple hype cycle.
Bulls See Remaining Accumulation, While Bears Still Point to Hype Fatigue
Why bulls think momentum is shifting
Last week, BitMine still bought 7,430 ETH while ETH traded near $1,860. That works out to roughly $14 million worth of ETH removed from the market in a week. With BitMine already holding 4.8% of Ethereum's total coin supply, each additional purchase matters more as free float becomes thinner.
The stock has also shown at least some response. BMNR rose over 4% in morning trade, and chatter increased by around 50% in the last 24 hours on Stocktwits as sentiment turned bullish. That alone is not institutional validation, but it does suggest the shares are reacting to recent buying activity rather than ignoring it.
Why the bear case still has weight
The bearish argument is simple: BMNR is still down more than 80% from the highs reached following the company's announcement of its Ethereum treasury strategy. That makes it easy to frame recent strength as another short-lived pump rather than the start of a durable rerating.
The near-term question is whether renewed buying flow can overcome months of weakness and sentiment fatigue. For now, the setup looks bullish but unproven.
