BitMEX's Arthur Hayes Predicts Bitcoin to Hit $1 Million by 2028
Arthur Hayes, the former CEO of BitMEX, has expressed his bullish outlook on Bitcoin, predicting that the cryptocurrency will reach $1 million by 2028. During his keynote speech at Token2049 in Dubai, Hayes emphasized that the U.S. government will need to increase dollar liquidity, which he believes will significantly boost Bitcoin's value.
Ask Aime: Could Bitcoin reach $1 million by 2028, as predicted by BitMEX's former CEO Arthur Hayes?
Hayes' prediction is based on his belief that the U.S. will engage in quantitative easing and print more money, a move he thinks will drive up crypto prices. He compared the current market conditions to the third quarter of 2022, when the central bank raised interest rates and the cryptosphere was on the brink of collapse due to the implosion of Sam Bankman-Fried’s empire. Despite these challenges, the U.S. intervened and injected $2.5 trillion into the economy through its repo program, which Hayes sees as a precedent for future market interventions.
Hayes also addressed the recent market concerns following the announcement of sweeping tariffs by U.S. President Donald Trump, which initially triggered a crypto market downturn. However, he argued that even if the Federal Reserve chairman, Jerome Powell, does not intervene directly, value hedge funds could boost liquidity by purchasing more debt. This, in turn, would support the rise of Bitcoin to $1 million by 2028, according to Hayes.
While Hayes' prediction of $1 million for Bitcoin by 2028 may seem ambitious, other industry experts have also voiced similar ultra-bullish outlooks. For instance, Cathie Wood’s Ark Invest has forecasted that Bitcoin could reach $2.4 million by 2030. These predictions highlight the growing optimism within the crypto community about the future potential of Bitcoin.
