BitcoinTreasuries.NET, a comprehensive tracker of cryptocurrency treasuries, reported significant growth in July 2025, with 292 entities holding a combined total of 3.66 million BTC valued at $430 billion. The report highlighted a 172% increase in public-company BTC holdings over the past year, accounting for around 3.2% of BTC's total supply [1].
July saw a surge in corporate BTC acquisitions, with entities adding 168,000 BTC, driven by prominent companies like Strategy, Trump Media, and Coinbase. Michael Saylor's Strategy led the charge, adding 31,466 BTC to its treasury, while Trump Media disclosed 18,430 BTC following a capital raise [1]. Additionally, government wallets saw limited activity, with the United States adding 10 BTC and El Salvador adding 33 BTC, while Bhutan was a net seller [1].
Beyond BTC, Ethereum's institutional adoption is also surging. According to Bitcoinist, the overall Ethereum treasury reserve reached 3,040,000 ETH, valued at $11.32 billion, representing 2.51% of ETH's total supply [2]. This growth is attributed to big companies like Bitmine Immersion Technologies, SharpLink Gaming, and The Ether Machine, which collectively hold a significant portion of the ETH treasury reserve [2].
The report also noted that while ETH treasury reserves have reached new highs, ETH Spot Exchange-Traded Funds (ETFs) are experiencing outflows. Standard Chartered suggests that investing in ETH treasury shares provides better value than ETFs due to stronger NAV multiples and regulatory advantages [2].
The growing adoption of cryptocurrencies as treasury assets by public and private companies, as well as institutional investors, indicates a maturing trend in the digital asset ecosystem. As policy clarity improves and supportive backdrops mature, experts expect this trend to continue, with BitcoinTreasuries.NET and other tracking platforms playing a crucial role in monitoring and analyzing this growth.
