Bitcoin Surges 35% To $102,000, Reclaims $2 Trillion Market Cap
Bitcoin (BTC) has surged above $100,000, reclaiming a market capitalization of $2 trillion. This milestone makes BTCBTC-- more valuable than major tech giants such as GoogleGOOG-- and MetaMETA--. The digital asset first reached this level late last year, but market headwinds in the first quarter of 2025 reduced its market size to nearly $1.5 trillion. However, renewed risk-on sentiment following the China-U.S. trade deal has propelled BTC back to the $2 trillion market cap, positioning it as the sixth most valuable commodity globally.
At the time of reporting, BTC was trading at $102,000, with a market cap of $2.046 trillion. There are only seven assets with a market size exceeding two trillion dollars. Google ranks seventh, while AmazonAMZN-- is in the top five with a market cap of $2.182 trillion. If the market sizes of the top five assets remain constant, BTC would need to reach $110,000 to surpass Amazon as the fifth-largest asset. To displace Apple from the fourth position, with a market cap of $3.155 trillion, the price of BTC must surge above $158,000.
Given that the $110,000-$200,000 range has been cited as a potential target for BTC by December 2025, the asset could become the fourth most valuable asset in the world this year. The explosive market growth of BTC is primarily driven by U.S. spot BTC ETF inflows, as indicated by realized capital. Between April lows and BTC’s current level above $100,000, the realized cap surged from $869 billion to $906 billion, indicating that over $36 billion in new capital flowed into the market in the past six weeks.
According to CryptoQuant, the growth trend in realized cap could push BTC to a new all-time high. If the trend of increasing realized capitalization continues, suggesting ongoing investor confidence in Bitcoin, it is very likely that Bitcoin will surpass its all-time high in the near future. This projection, if validated, could see BTC at least knock out Amazon from the top five global asset position.
