Strategy Inc., a prominent U.S.-listed company, has significantly increased its
holdings by acquiring an additional 6,220 BTC for approximately $740 million. This purchase brings the company's total Bitcoin holdings to 607,770 BTC, valued at around $43.6 billion. The average cost per Bitcoin for this latest acquisition was $118,940, as disclosed in a Form 8-K filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. This acquisition comes at a time when Bitcoin prices were near historic highs, briefly surpassing $122,000 before stabilizing around $118,000. Strategy Inc. remains the largest public holder of Bitcoin globally, reflecting its consistent strategy of accumulating the cryptocurrency.
The 6,220 BTC purchase was completed during the week ending July 20, 2025, following a previous buy of 4,225 BTC just a week earlier. This continuous accumulation strategy is evident in the company's monthly purchases, with 10,455 BTC acquired in July alone. For comparison, Strategy bought 17,075 BTC in June, 26,695 in May, and 25,370 in April, demonstrating a steady and aggressive approach to Bitcoin acquisition.
Strategy’s proprietary Bitcoin Yield metric, which measures the growth in BTC holdings relative to the number of diluted shares outstanding, has risen to 20.8% year-to-date. This metric was introduced in August 2024 to provide a benchmark for the company's Bitcoin performance. Michael Saylor, the company's leader, posted on X that Strategy has achieved a BTC Yield of 20.8% year-to-date and is targeting a 25% yield for the full year, starting from a 15% base. The rising yield metric reflects the firm’s growing Bitcoin position and shareholding base.
While Strategy Inc. was expanding its Bitcoin treasury, Wei-Ming Shao, Senior Executive Vice President, sold 10,900
shares on July 14, valued at approximately $4.9 million. This sale follows a separate $25.7 million sale by the same executive earlier in the month. Despite these executive sales, Strategy Inc. has continued its aggressive Bitcoin acquisition approach, spending a total of $43.6 billion on Bitcoin with an average cost of $71,756 per coin. The recent $740 million investment adds to a long line of similar purchases dating back to 2020.
