Ether ETFs Extended 20-Day Inflow Streak Amid Bitcoin ETF Outflows [1]
Ether-based exchange-traded funds (ETFs) secured their 20th consecutive day of net inflows as of late July 2025, marking a significant milestone in their performance relative to other digital assets. On the final day of the streak, the product class recorded a modest $17 million in inflows, with BlackRock’s ETHA leading with $18.18 million and Fidelity’s FETH adding $5.62 million. Despite a minor outflow from Grayscale’s ETHE of $6.80 million, the ETFs maintained their positive trend, with total trading volume hitting $1.28 billion and net assets rising to $21.52 billion [1].
In contrast, Bitcoin ETFs faced a significant reversal, ending a recent five-day inflow streak with a $115 million outflow. The shift in investor behavior was driven by heavy outflows from key players such as Ark 21Shares’ ARKB, which lost $89.92 million, and Fidelity’s FBTC, which shed $53.63 million. Despite inflows from several funds, including BlackRock’s IBIT and Vaneck’s HODL, the negative net movement underscored a cooling in short-term institutional appetite for Bitcoin exposure [1].
The divergence in performance between the two ETF classes highlights a broader shift in market sentiment. Ether ETFs have attracted over $5.4 billion in net inflows during July 2025, a 369% increase from the previous month, demonstrating strong institutional and retail confidence in Ethereum [3]. This trend is attributed in part to Ethereum’s ongoing network upgrades and its expanding role in decentralized finance (DeFi) and smart contract ecosystems. The continued inflows into ether ETFs have also contributed to stabilizing price movements for ETH, offering a buffer against volatility during periods of market uncertainty [6].
The recent outflows from Bitcoin ETFs suggest a potential short-term correction in demand for the largest cryptocurrency. While the long-term fundamentals for Bitcoin remain robust, analysts speculate that profit-taking and macroeconomic factors may be influencing the shift in investor behavior [7]. The market now appears to be in a transitional phase, with ether ETFs gaining traction as an alternative investment vehicle amid mixed signals for Bitcoin-based products.
The 20-day inflow streak for ether ETFs is the longest recorded since their launch and represents a strategic reallocation of capital within the crypto market. This trend reflects a growing acceptance of Ethereum as a viable asset class within traditional finance. If the momentum continues, ether ETFs could further solidify Ethereum’s role in diversified crypto portfolios, positioning it as a core holding alongside more established assets [3].
