Bitcoin News Today: "Binance's Risk Radar: WAN on Watch as GPS Gains Clearance"

Binance has updated its Monitoring and Seed Tag system for selected cryptocurrencies, effective October 9, 2025. The exchange added WanchainWAN-- (WAN) to the Monitoring Tag list, while removing GoPlus SecurityGPS-- (GPS) and MovieBlocMBL-- (MBL) from the same category. Additionally, BerachainBERA-- (BERA), BIO Protocol (BIO), ZKsyncZK-- (ZK), and LayerZeroZRO-- (ZRO) no longer carry the Seed Tag. These adjustments reflect Binance's ongoing efforts to align its risk management framework with project performance and market conditions .
The Monitoring Tag is applied to tokens deemed higher-risk due to factors such as volatility, liquidity constraints, or project maturity. Tokens under this label undergo periodic reviews and may face delisting if they fail to meet Binance's standards. Conversely, removal from the Monitoring Tag indicates improved compliance or reduced risk profiles. GPSGPS-- and MBL's removal suggests these projects have demonstrated stability and met the exchange's criteria for security and operational transparency .
WAN's inclusion in the Monitoring Tag triggered a significant price reaction. Following the announcement, the token's price fell 34%, dropping from $0.10 to $0.06-a record low-before partially recovering to $0.087 at the time of reporting. In contrast, GPS saw a 1.54% price increase, reflecting market optimism over its delisting from the Monitoring Tag . The Seed Tag removal for BERABERA--, BIO, ZK, and ZRO implies these projects have matured, reducing their perceived risk for traders. Binance noted that Seed Tags are typically reserved for newer or less-established projects requiring heightened user caution .
Binance's review process evaluates multiple criteria, including project team commitment, development activity, smart contract security, and regulatory compliance. Tokens under Monitoring or Seed Tags must also comply with user education requirements, such as completing risk awareness quizzes every 90 days. This approach aims to ensure traders remain informed about potential risks associated with volatile or nascent assets .
The updated tagging system underscores Binance's emphasis on transparency and user protection. By periodically reassessing tokens, the exchange seeks to maintain market quality and foster a sustainable crypto ecosystem. Traders are advised to review the risk profiles of affected tokens and adhere to Binance's Terms of Use for tagged assets .
