Ripple's CTO, David Schwartz, has recently addressed the escalating attacks on XRP by Bitcoin maximalists, offering insights into the reasons behind the intense criticism. The Bitcoin community, led by figures such as Pierre Rochard of Riot Platforms, Rajat Soni (CFA), and Robert Breedlove, has been actively spreading negative narratives about XRP, labeling it a scam and a psychological operation aimed at deceiving retail investors.

Schwartz attributes the attacks to Ripple's advocacy for a level playing field in the cryptocurrency industry, where the government does not favor Bitcoin over other cryptocurrencies. He believes that this stance has always been feared by Bitcoin maximalists. Ripple has been pushing for the U.S. government to adopt a national crypto reserve that includes a range of crypto assets, not just Bitcoin. This approach has been criticized by Bitcoin maximalists, who argue that it threatens the concept of a U.S. strategic Bitcoin reserve.

Despite the ongoing debate, some XRP supporters view the situation positively. Mark Kangas, an XRP user, noted that the attacks generate significant interest in XRP, effectively serving as free advertising for the cryptocurrency. He suggested that the XRP community should be grateful for the increased attention, regardless of the motivations behind the attacks.
