Bitcoin to hit $21 million by 2046 says Michael Saylor
Michael Saylor, the founder of Strategy, has significantly raised his long-term forecast for Bitcoin, predicting that the cryptocurrency will reach $21 million by 2046. This projection was made during his keynote speech at the BTC Prague 2025 event, where he highlighted the rapid changes in geopolitical dynamics and the increasing adoption of cryptocurrencies as key factors driving this optimistic outlook.
Saylor's latest prediction marks a substantial increase from his previous forecast, made at the Bitcoin 2024 conference in Nashville, where he had estimated that Bitcoin would hit $13 million by 2045. The shift in his forecast reflects the numerous developments in the cryptocurrency landscape over the past year, which he described as "extraordinary." These developments include the White House's embrace of Bitcoin, a move that Saylor did not anticipate and which he believes has brought about a significant change in the political landscape.
Saylor emphasized that his bullish stance on Bitcoin has remained consistent, even during the crypto winter when the price plummeted to $16,000. However, the election of Donald Trump as president last November marked a turning point, as it brought about a strategic shift in the United States' approach to Bitcoin. Saylor noted that the president's declaration of the United States as the "Bitcoin superpower of the world" and the establishment of a strategic Bitcoin reserve were developments that he had not foreseen.
In addition to geopolitical changes, Saylor also pointed to growing regulatory and legislative developments around cryptocurrencies. He mentioned three crypto-related bills progressing in the US, including the stablecoin-focused Genius Act, the Digital AssetDAAQ-- Market Clarity Act, and the Bitcoin Act. These legislative efforts, along with the increasing acceptance of Bitcoin by various states, further bolster his confidence in the cryptocurrency's future.
Saylor's prediction is based on his analysis of current trends and developments, rather than any specific data or forecasts. His optimism is rooted in the belief that the adoption of Bitcoin will continue to grow, driven by both geopolitical and regulatory factors. As the cryptocurrency landscape evolves, Saylor's prediction serves as a reminder of the potential for significant growth in the value of Bitcoin over the long term.
