Binance, the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange, has announced a temporary suspension of certain services this week to support ongoing blockchain maintenance and infrastructure upgrades. The affected services include USDC withdrawals via specific blockchain networks and deposits and withdrawals for the SEI token. These actions are part of routine maintenance efforts to enhance network stability and user experience [1].
On August 6, 2025, Binance will halt USDC withdrawals through the Ethereum (ETH), Polygon (POL), Arbitrum (ARB), Base (BASE), and Optimism (OP) networks. The maintenance period is expected to last approximately two hours. During this time, users will be unable to withdraw USDC on these networks, but trading activities will remain unaffected. The exchange emphasized that all technical requirements will be handled on behalf of users and that no further announcements will be made regarding the suspension [1].
Alongside this, Binance suspended SEI token deposits and withdrawals starting at 23:00 UTC on August 4, 2025, to facilitate a critical upgrade to the Sei blockchain network. The upgrade is scheduled to begin at block height 160,945,710, expected around 03:00 CEST on August 5, 2025. The SEI token, integral to the Sei blockchain ecosystem, is used for transaction fees, staking, and governance. While the token remains tradable, users will not be able to move SEI tokens during the upgrade period. Services are set to resume once the network stabilizes [2].
These maintenance efforts reflect Binance’s ongoing commitment to optimizing its platform. Over recent months, the exchange has similarly paused services on
, Cardano, and other networks for comparable upgrades. Binance also emphasized that no broader operational changes are expected beyond the specific suspensions, and users are advised to stay informed through official channels for any further updates [1].In parallel with these maintenance actions, Binance has introduced new features to improve user flexibility and engagement. The Discount Buy feature allows users to lock in future purchases at preset prices, providing a structured way to accumulate crypto at a discount without requiring constant market monitoring. Binance Wallet (Web), another recent launch, offers a streamlined desktop trading experience with features such as Secure Auto Sign (SAS), which enables extended transaction approvals without repeated confirmations [1]. The web wallet is optimized for on-chain users who trade actively or monitor multiple signals and supports BNB Smart Chain and Solana.
The combination of infrastructure upgrades and product innovation underscores Binance’s strategy to maintain its leadership in the cryptocurrency space while continuously adapting to evolving user needs and market dynamics. As with previous upgrades, the suspension of services is temporary and focused on long-term operational improvements rather than systemic changes [1].
