Binance Pay has expanded its services to over 80 venues across the French Riviera, including hotels, shops, and restaurants, allowing tourists and residents to use stablecoins and major cryptocurrencies for their purchases. This initiative is part of Binance's broader strategy to promote real-world crypto adoption, with Cannes serving as a key example. The launch coincides with the
Community Conference and the peak tourism season, aiming to normalize digital currencies in everyday travel experiences. The integration of Binance Pay in Cannes is supported by local authorities and businesses eager to modernize payment options. The program includes a reward scheme where tourists spending €20 or more earn 5 EURI, with a limit of 1,999 users. The EURI stablecoin, backed by the euro and compliant with MiCA regulations, is credited directly to users’ Binance wallets. This promotion is designed to incentivize the use of crypto payments and make transactions more accessible for crypto holders.
Participating locations in Cannes include high-end hotels like JW
and Hôtel Mondrian, as well as popular eateries and beach clubs. The initiative extends to nearby cities like Nice and Antibes, where businesses such as restaurants, gyms, and marine services now accept crypto payments. This expansion is facilitated by Binance’s partnership with local fintech firm Lyzi, which has enabled a seamless integration of crypto payment options across various sectors.David Princay, CEO of Binance France, highlighted the collaboration between merchants and authorities as a significant step toward adopting crypto as a regular payment tool. The instant, gas-free payments with no conversion fees offered by Binance Pay aim to simplify transactions for crypto holders, making it easier for them to use digital currencies in their daily lives. The program also includes art galleries, retail shops, pharmacies, and transportation services, providing visitors with a comprehensive digital experience.
In addition to the EURI promotion, Binance is running a separate campaign for users across France. From June 10 to July 10, customers spending €50 or more via Binance Pay are eligible for up to 20 USDC in vouchers. A total of 19,000 USDC has been allocated for this program, encouraging broader participation and supporting France’s growing crypto economy. To qualify, users must verify their Binance accounts and complete eligible purchases in-store or online, further incentivizing digital-savvy consumers to adopt crypto payments.
The Cannes launch is part of Binance Pay’s global rollout, which includes cities from Buenos Aires to Bhutan. As the city hosts the Ethereum Community Conference from June 30 to July 3, the campaign underscores how crypto can integrate with tourism, commerce, and events. This initiative demonstrates that stablecoin adoption is expanding beyond digital platforms and entering everyday experiences, with local support and expanding access paving the way for other regions to follow suit.
