Binance Launches 20th HODLer Airdrop with 150 Million SOPH Tokens

Binance has announced the launch of its 20th HODLer Airdrop project, focusing on Sophon (SOPH). This initiative will allocate 150 million SOPH tokens to eligible BNB holders, representing 1.5% of the total SOPH supply. The airdrop is retroactive, applying to users who subscribed BNB to Simple Earn (Flexible or Locked) and On-Chain Earn products between May 14 and May 17, 2025. Users who held BNB in these eligible products during the snapshot period will automatically receive the airdrop, with the tokens credited to their Spot Wallets at least one hour before trading begins. Ineligible jurisdictions include the United States and other regions listed on Binance’s platform.

SOPH spot trading will commence on May 28, 2025, at 13:00 UTC, with five trading pairs: SOPH/USDT, SOPH/USDC, SOPH/BNB, SOPH/FDUSD, and SOPH/TRY. Deposits for SOPH will be enabled one hour after the listing announcement. SOPH will carry Binance’s “Seed Tag,” indicating it is a new and relatively unproven project. This tag serves as a risk alert to users and mandates completing quizzes to continue trading such assets.

Sophon is a Layer-2 chain designed for entertainment applications, built using zkSync’s ZK Stack. It operates using a Validium architecture, where transaction data is stored off-chain but validated using zero-knowledge proofs and anchored on Ethereum. This structure is ideal for applications requiring high throughput and low gas fees. Sophon aims to power consumer-facing applications such as real-time gaming, AI chat interfaces, NFT ticketing systems, and Web3 loyalty platforms, bringing Web2 user experience and scalability into decentralized environments.

SOPH has a total supply of 10 billion tokens, with a detailed allocation breakdown. 20% is allocated for node rewards, distributed over 36 months; 25% for the Sophon Foundation with a 12-month cliff and 36-month vesting; 20% for investors with a 12-month cliff and 24-month vesting; 5% for advisors with a 12-month cliff and 36-month vesting; and 30% for the ecosystem reserve. In addition to the 150 million SOPH set aside for the Binance HODLer airdrop, another 50 million SOPH will be used for post-listing promotions, and 150 million more are reserved for future campaigns after six months. Furthermore, 10% of the SOPH supply will be allocated to liquidity farming and other DeFi incentive programs on the Sophon chain, ensuring robust on-chain activity and user acquisition.

Sophon supports a growing suite of decentralized applications, particularly in the entertainment sector. Petopia, developed in collaboration with Mirai Labs, is a roguelike shooter game with over 220,000 players and 4,500 daily matches. Players earn on-chain rewards and contribute to liquidity pools, aligning game mechanics with Web3 incentives. OPEN is a platform issuing over 19 million NFT tickets per year, introducing smart contract-based ticketing with features like dynamic pricing, resale royalties, and fan reward mechanisms. The Sophon Intelligence Agency (SIA) is a $5 million investment initiative focused on AI agent development, with early experiments including AI-powered Reddit bots that generate content and engage in transactions through on-chain micropayments.

Sophon has attracted major backers, including Binance Labs, OKX Ventures, Paper Ventures, The Spartan Group, and Animoca Ventures. The project has raised over $70 million and sold more than 120,000 node licenses to over 5,800 participants. These licenses will likely play a vital role in Sophon’s validator ecosystem or service provisioning as the network matures. The community-building efforts are also evident in Sophon’s commitment to ecosystem grants, hackathons, and Web3-native marketing campaigns.

To verify eligibility for the airdrop, users should go to the Binance HODLer Airdrops page, log in, and check under “History” to see if SOPH is listed. Ensure that BNB was subscribed to Simple Earn or On-Chain Earn between May 14–17, 2025. If eligible, SOPH will be automatically credited to the user’s Binance Spot Wallet.
