"Oracle of Omaha" Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway was reduced. The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission's (SEC) website recently disclosed a document showing that Charles Whittemore, husband of Berkshire director Meryl Witmer, sold 2 shares of Berkshire A-class stock on March 3, with a transaction price of about US$777,900 per share, netting US$1.55 million.

The document showed that the shares sold were from Charles' individual retirement account. It is known that Meryl bought 8 shares of Berkshire A-class stock and 1,000 shares of B-class stock in May 2020, while Charles bought 2 shares of A-class stock at about US$261,000 per share at that time. The 2 shares of A-class stock sold were the shares Charles bought at that time.

According to data, as of the close of the U.S. stock market on March 5, the price of Berkshire A-class stock was US$746,940; since June 2020, the cumulative increase in the price of Berkshire A-class stock has exceeded 168%.

It is worth noting that the transaction took place near a stage high, marking the first transaction by the Whittemore family since they bought Berkshire shares in May 2020.

According to the 2024 fiscal year annual report released by Berkshire last month, it achieved revenue of US$371.433 billion in 2024, slightly lower than the market's expectation of US$371.953 billion, and US$364.482 billion in the same period last year; it achieved a net profit attributable to shareholders of US$89.495 billion, far exceeding the market's expectation of US$60.706 billion, and US$96.223 billion in the same period last year.
