BCE Inc. lays off nearly 700 staff as part of new growth strategy

BCE Inc. is laying off nearly 700 non-unionized employees, including 650 management positions across Bell Canada and 40 roles in Bell Media, as part of its three-year strategy to reduce leverage and focus on growth areas. The company said it is continuing to invest in strategic priority areas to grow the business. The layoffs represent about 2% of Bell Canada's workforce and 1% of Bell Media employees. BCE spokesperson Luc Levasseur stated that the company is supporting departing employees and thanked them for their dedication and contributions.
