BAE Systems Partners with GM Defense and NP Aerospace to Provide UK Ministry of Defense with New Land Vehicle Fleet.

BAE Systems has partnered with GM Defense and NP Aerospace to provide the UK Ministry of Defense with a new fleet of land vehicles. The program aims to replace an aging fleet of military vehicles. Team LionStrike will offer a combination of GM Defense's commercial trucks, utility vehicles, and Infantry Support Vehicle for the land mobility program. BAE Systems will enhance and upgrade the vehicles for military use.

BAE Systems, GM Defense, and NP Aerospace have joined forces to form Team LionStrike, offering the UK Ministry of Defence a comprehensive solution to modernize its ground vehicle fleet. The collaboration, announced on September 3, 2025, aims to replace an aging fleet with state-of-the-art vehicles that enhance operational capabilities and cost efficiency [1].

Team LionStrike will provide a combination of GM Defense’s commercial trucks, utility vehicles, and Infantry Support Vehicles (ISVs) for the UK Ministry of Defence’s Land Mobility Programme. BAE Systems will enhance and upgrade these vehicles for military use, while NP Aerospace will ensure they comply with UK operational requirements [1].

BAE Systems’ Weapon Systems UK business, known for its expertise in combat systems, will lead the project. John Borton, Managing Director of BAE Systems’ Weapons Systems UK business, stated, “The combined capabilities of Team LionStrike enable us to lead the charge for the UK Government’s ambitions to revitalise and sustain vital UK defence capacity” [1].

Steve duMont, President of GM Defense, noted that the modern battlespace demands new tools for soldiers. “Soldiers in the United Kingdom, the United States, and our allies need new tools to perform their mission with greater operational capability, higher performance, and improved safety and reliability” [1].

James Kempston, CEO of NP Aerospace, expressed pride in joining Team LionStrike, highlighting NP Aerospace’s proven expertise and track record of delivery. “This partnership will help create and sustain skilled jobs at our Midlands base and generate new opportunities for our well-established UK supply chain” [1].

The program is expected to generate substantial economic benefits, supporting skilled jobs and the supply chain. The collaboration also underscores the UK’s commitment to maintaining a strong and modern defense capability, crucial for national security in the face of evolving global threats.
