Axia Energia is exploring options to ensure energy supply for a $50 billion data center project in Rio de Janeiro, aiming to position the city as a leader in AI in Latin America. The company will conduct engineering and cost studies for a substation to power the Rio AI City data center, which is being developed by Elea Data Centers. The project is expected to have a capacity of 1.5 gigawatts in the first phase and up to 3.2 gigawatts eventually.
