Aurora Labs Ltd-Aurora wins $1 million defence grant funding
Aurora Labs Limited (ASX: A3D) has been awarded a $544,333 Defence Industry Development Grant under the Sovereign Industrial Priorities Stream, marking a significant step in its propulsion manufacturing capabilities. The grant will co-fund the acquisition of advanced capital equipment, including multi-axis CNC machining centres and HVAC thermal control systems, to scale up production of micro gas turbines. These investments aim to strengthen Australia’s sovereign defence supply chain and support upcoming applications in UAVs.
The funding aligns with Aurora Labs’ broader strategy to achieve vertical integration in propulsion manufacturing, from additive manufacturing to final assembly. CEO Rebekah Letheby emphasized that the grant represents an investment in sovereign capability, reinforcing end-to-end propulsion solutions in Western Australia.
Aurora Labs has also signed a three-year Teaming Agreement with MBDA, a global leader in missile systems, to explore opportunities in defence markets. The partnership leverages Aurora’s 3D-printed propulsion technologies.
The company has previously secured contracts with the Department of Defence and has demonstrated ability to deliver propulsion solutions. With a focus on scalable, cost-effective manufacturing, Aurora Labs is positioning itself to meet growing global demand.
