Arm Unveils First In-House Chip, AGI CPU, with Meta as Launch Customer

Arm Holdings has launched its first own-brand chip, the AGI CPU, designed for AI workloads in data centers. The chip is manufactured by Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company and is optimized for energy efficiency, with double the performance-per-watt of conventional x86 chips. Seven customers, including Meta, OpenAI, and Cloudflare, have committed to the chip. Arm developed the chip over 18 months at a purpose-built laboratory in Austin, Texas.
