However, the stock price of Arm Holdings (ARM) decreased by 0.62%.Arm has introduced a new platform, Zena CSS, designed to accelerate the development of AI-defined vehicles. This platform is a pre-integrated compute system that enables automakers to bring new vehicle models to market at least one year faster than traditional timelines. The Zena platform is part of Arm's strategy to bring their CSS compute system to the automotive industry, offering a standardized, pre-verified compute foundation built on Armv9 Automotive Enhanced (AE) technology.
The Zena CSS platform includes a high-performance compute block with a 16-core Arm Cortex-A720AE CPU cluster, a safety island featuring a Cortex-R82AE for real-time processing and functional safety, a security enclave leveraging Arm TrustZone technology, and system interconnects including CMN S3AE for CPU coherency and chip-to-chip connectivity. This pre-verified block allows partners to focus their engineering efforts on areas that differentiate their products, such as integrating specialized IP for AI functions and graphics capabilities.
Arm claims that using Zena CSS can significantly reduce the effort required by silicon makers, potentially cutting silicon development time by up to 12 months and the number of engineers needed per project by 20%. This approach allows silicon partners and automakers to focus on areas that define their unique characteristics and consumer experience, such as AI and graphics acceleration. The Zena CSS block is scalable across different applications within a vehicle, including ADAS, IVI, and vehicle control, and can be reused across different vehicle models and portfolios.
Software is becoming a critical path to deployment in AI-defined vehicles, and Arm addresses this by making Zena CSS available on virtual prototypes from day one. This allows software developers to begin innovating on the platform before physical silicon is ready, potentially accelerating software development timelines by up to two years compared to traditional serialized approaches. The platform supports a robust software ecosystem built on open standards, including those from the SOAFEE foundation, ensuring that software developed to this standard "just works" on the Zena CSS.
