Apple is reportedly preparing to launch a new AI-powered wall-mounted tablet device early next year, targeting the smart home market. The device, anticipated to debut as early as March, is designed to act as a home command center. It will aim to control home appliances, facilitate video conferencing, and utilize AI to navigate applications. A significant feature of this product is the new Apple Intelligence AI platform.

The proposed smart home device's screen is approximately six inches, adopting the appearance of a square iPad. Its size is roughly equivalent to two iPhones placed side by side, with a thick bezel surrounding the display. A camera is positioned at the top of the device's front, accompanied by built-in speakers and a rechargeable internal battery. Apple plans to offer this product in silver and black options.

The unit includes a touch interface resembling a mix between the Apple Watch's operating system and the StandBy mode introduced in the latest iPhones. However, Apple forecasts that most users will interact with the device primarily via voice commands through Siri and Apple Intelligence.

This product is built integrating Apple’s App Intents, a framework enabling developers to integrate Siri and Apple Intelligence more deeply into their applications across Apple’s iOS platforms. This feature allows users to command Siri to directly interact with apps, perform tasks, and find app-related content through Spotlight searches without the need to open the apps separately. It also includes the capability to quickly start apps using hardware buttons on iPhones or Apple Watches.

If Apple successfully launches this device, it marks the company's latest effort to catch up with Amazon and Google's parent company Alphabet in the competitive smart home sector. This move highlights Apple's strategic importance placed on its ecosystem's integration, likely aiming to enhance the user experience significantly through deep integration with Apple Intelligence and Siri.
