However, this service is still several years away from being commercially available.Apple's journey in developing health-related sensors has not been without challenges. The company has faced patent disputes that led to the removal of the blood oxygen monitoring feature from the Apple Watch. Additionally, the development of a high blood pressure sensor has encountered numerous obstacles.
To address these challenges, Apple has initiated Project Mulberry, aimed at revolutionizing the Health app with AI-driven health coaching features. This upgrade will enable the app to perform some functions traditionally handled by doctors. The project is progressing smoothly and is expected to be unveiled with the iOS 19.4 system update in the spring or summer of 2026. The enhanced Health app will continue to collect data from various devices, and the AI coach will use this data to provide personalized health advice. Apple is training this AI system using data from its internal team of medical professionals.
To further enrich the service, Apple is considering collaborations with experts in cardiovascular health, mental health, sleep, nutrition, and physiotherapy. The company plans to establish a dedicated studio in the San Francisco Bay Area and recruit hosts with medical qualifications to produce health education videos.
