Apple's Trading Volume Drops 21.46% But Stock Price Rises 2.64% Over Two Days

On May 28, 2025, Apple (AAPL) saw a trading volume of $8.819 billion, marking a 21.46% decrease from the previous day. Despite this, the stock price rose by 0.10%, marking the second consecutive day of gains and a total increase of 2.64% over the past two days.
Apple's fiscal Q2 2025 results highlighted a shift in the company's revenue streams. While iPhone sales declined by 10% to $45.96 billion, the Services business saw a 14% year-over-year increase, reaching a record $23.87 billion. This segment now accounts for over 26% of total revenue, helping to offset the decline in hardware sales and pushing the gross margin to 46.6%, the highest in 12 years.
Beyond the iPhone, Apple's Mac and iPad businesses also faced challenges, with revenue falling by 11.2% and 16.7% respectively. However, the Wearables, Home, and Accessories category remained resilient, generating $7.91 billion in revenue. This consistency underscores the strength of the Apple ecosystem and user engagement across hardware products.
In terms of regional performance, Greater China revenue decreased by 8% due to local competition and regulatory pressures. However, Apple reported double-digit growth in India, Latin America, and other developing regions, indicating potential new growth opportunities. The company is also ramping up production in India to mitigate geopolitical risks and supply chain issues.
Apple's share repurchase program continues to be a key factor in investor sentiment. The company announced a $110 billion buyback authorization, the largest in its history, and repurchased $27 billion in shares in Q2 alone. This strategic move helps to buffer against valuation concerns and has contributed to the stock's recent performance.
Looking ahead, Apple is focusing on innovation to drive future growth. At WWDC 2025, the company is expected to unveil new AI-integrated features and potential enhancements to Vision Pro. While the mixed-reality headset has yet to reach mass adoption, it could become a significant tailwind as the ecosystem expands and developers embrace spatial computing.
