Apple has restructured its AI leadership team.

Apple has made an unusual management shuffle in its AI division, aiming to revitalize its AI business, especially the development of Siri, its voice assistant. CEO Tim Cook has appointed Mike Rockwell, the head of Vision Pro, to take over Siri's development, as he lost confidence in the current AI chief John Giannandrea. The move highlights Apple's predicament of falling behind its competitors in AI and the embarrassing situation of Siri's upgrade repeatedly delayed. Rockwell will be responsible for Siri and report to Craig Federighi, the software chief, and Siri will be separated from Giannandrea's jurisdiction. Giannandrea will continue to stay at Apple, responsible for AI research, testing, and related technologies. The development of Siri's new features has been blocked, leading to multiple delays, which has caused frustration and embarrassment within Apple. Rockwell has rich experience in hardware development and team management, successfully launching Vision Pro, and is regarded as a problem-solving expert and technology advocate. Two experienced managers, Kim Vorrath and Aimee Nugent, who are good at handling difficult projects, have already joined the Siri team to prepare for Rockwell's takeover.
