Apple is planning to construct a 25,000 square foot AI server factory in Texas.
Apple Inc. announced plans to build a 250,000-square-foot artificial intelligence (AI) server factory in Houston, Texas. The factory is scheduled to open in 2026 and will be used mainly to produce servers for Apple Intelligence, the company’s smart assistant that will be used on iPhones, iPads and Mac computers. In addition to the new factory, Apple plans to add about 20,000 jobs across the country, focusing on research and development, chip engineering, software development and AI and machine learning. The investment plan also includes: working with suppliers across the country. Producing content for Apple TV+ streaming service in 20 states. Doubling the size of the Advanced Manufacturing Fund to $10bn from $5bn. Opening a new manufacturing academy in Michigan. Increasing research and development investment in the US to support cutting-edge fields such as chip engineering. Apple said the investment showed its confidence in the future of American innovation and highlighted its status as one of the country’s largest taxpayers, having paid more than $75bn in taxes over the past five years. The announcement came after the company’s chief executive met with President Donald Trump and as Apple faced pressure from the Trump administration to move its manufacturing operations back to the US.
