Apple has extended the grace period for adding AppleCare+ coverage to four years for iPhone, iPad, and Mac products, allowing users to add coverage to devices purchased within four years as long as they're in reasonable condition. The new AppleCare One bundle offers the most flexible grace period for adding warranty coverage.

Apple has extended the grace period for adding AppleCare+ coverage to four years for iPhone, iPad, and Mac products. This change allows users to add coverage to devices purchased within four years as long as they are in reasonable condition. The new AppleCare One bundle offers the most flexible grace period for adding warranty coverage [2].

In a memo reviewed by Bloomberg, Apple informed its staff that the extension is available for customers who pay for AppleCare+ in full or via installments on the Apple Card. The extension is applicable only in the U.S. and Canada. Users must bring their devices to the Apple Store for a retail employee to assess before they are allowed to buy AppleCare [1].

This extension gives customers another opportunity to protect their devices and have access to all the AppleCare+ benefits. Apple CEO Tim Cook recently shared that the Covid-19 pandemic led to a decrease in demand for AppleCare warranty. With more time given to buy AppleCare, the company hopes to increase sales and boost its digital services business [1].

AppleCare One is a new warranty subscription service option from Apple. For just $19.99 per month, customers can protect up to three products in one plan, with the option to add more at any time for $5.99 per month for each device. This plan includes all the benefits of AppleCare+, such as unlimited repairs for accidents like drops and spills, 24/7 priority support, quick and convenient Apple-certified service, and battery coverage. Theft and loss coverage, previously only available for iPhone, also extends to the Apple Watch and iPad with AppleCare One [3].

The new bundle also allows customers to add already-owned eligible devices up to four years old, as long as they are in good condition. This provides customers with more opportunities to protect their devices, even beyond the current 60-day window to purchase AppleCare+ [4].

AppleCare One simplifies plan management. When a customer trades in a covered product directly to Apple, it is automatically removed from their AppleCare One plan and replaced with the new device. The monthly plan allows customers to maintain coverage for as long as they like across as many products as they want, including the ability to move products in and out of their plan at any time [4].

Apple has done a lot of work in recent years to make AppleCare+ coverage more accessible and affordable for customers. The extended grace period and the new AppleCare One bundle are part of Apple's ongoing efforts to grow its AppleCare service business [3].
