Apple Expands Educational Initiatives in China with New Tech-Driven Commitment

During the 2025 China Development Forum, Apple CEO Tim Cook underscored the pivotal role of education and expressed Apple's ongoing commitment to supporting educational initiatives in China. "Apple has numerous visions for education, and we are thrilled to contribute to the educational landscape in China," Cook stated.
During the event, Apple announced an additional donation to the China Development Research Foundation aimed at expanding a rural teacher training program. Since 2020, Apple's donations to public welfare in China have reached 350 million RMB. Cook emphasized the importance of supporting rural education, asserting that technology serves as a potent tool in enhancing students' engagement and learning pace. By combining technology with quality teaching, broader student benefits can be realized, promoting equity in rural education.
Cook elaborated on the transformative power of technology, describing it as a bridge connecting knowledge with practice. He articulated Apple's goal of providing equal opportunities through advanced technology, promoting "everyone can code." Not everyone needs to become a programmer, but coding fosters problem-solving abilities, critical thinking, and creativity, even in the era of generative AI.
Beyond education, Apple has set a target to achieve carbon neutrality across its entire value chain by 2030. Cook views environmental responsibility not as a business strategy but a corporate obligation. He highlighted China's significant contributions to carbon reduction and noted that two-thirds of Apple's Chinese suppliers now use renewable energy. Emphasizing the importance of component recycling, Cook stated, "There are no shortcuts in environmental protection; it requires diligent and hands-on efforts."
Since 2018, Apple has collaborated with the China Development Research Foundation, continually supporting education and community projects. The latest donation marks an extension of Apple's mission to provide students and teachers across China's communities with access to new opportunities through technology. Cook reaffirmed, "We believe education is a powerful force for opportunity, and our long-standing partnership with the foundation is a commitment to provide rural communities with new learning avenues. We are delighted to build upon this collaboration, equipping more teachers with the necessary tools and training to unlock students' potential and prepare them for the workforce of today and tomorrow."
