Apple (AAPL.US) faces first fine under EU's Digital Markets Act, intensifying antitrust conflict with App Store
Apple Inc. (AAPL.US) may face a fine from the European Union for the first time under its new digital antitrust rules, the Digital Markets Act (DMA), after failing to allow app developers to steer users to cheaper products and services outside the App Store, marking a further escalation in the conflict between the company and regulators over its dominance of the app store. The penalty comes after Apple was fined 1.8bn euros ($2bn) for breaching EU competition rules, involving music streaming service Spotify.
