Apple (AAPL.US) CEO Cook: Will continue to increase investment in China

1min read Apple AAPL.US CEO Cook met with the Minister of Industry and Information Technology of China on Wednesday, saying that the company will continue to increase its investment in China to help the industry and supply chain achieve high-quality development, highlighting the importance of the Chinese market in Apple's global business.As the largest smartphone market in the world, China remains Apple's most important market outside the United States. According to Counterpoint Research, the sales of Apple's latest iPhone 16 series smartphones in China in the first three weeks of its launch increased by 20% compared with the same period of the launch of the iPhone 15 series smartphones last year, easing some analysts' concerns about weak demand for the latest iPhones.On October 23, Minister of Industry and Information Technology of China, Xin Zhuanglong, met with Apple CEO Cook in Beijing, exchanging views on Apple's development in China, network data security management, cloud services, etc.Xin Zhuanglong said that in recent years, China has opened up the telecommunications sector in an orderly manner, creating new opportunities for foreign enterprises to invest and do business in China. We will continue to expand high-level opening-up, vigorously promote the industrialization of digitalization and the digitalization of industry, and provide more opportunities and a better environment for foreign investors. We hope Apple will continue to deepen its market in China, increase its innovation input, and grow together with Chinese enterprises, sharing the dividends of high-quality development.Cook said that Apple is willing to actively seize the opportunities of China's opening-up, and continue to increase its investment in China to help the industry and supply chain achieve high-quality development.In addition, Cook also told the media that Apple is working hard to provide artificial intelligence services for Chinese users as soon as possible, but it needs to complete a comprehensive regulatory process first. According to media reports, Apple may seek potential artificial intelligence partnerships with Alibaba and Baidu in China.
