American Express (NYSE: AXP) has announced a significant upgrade to its Business Platinum Card, offering over $2,000 in potential value through statement credits. The enhancements, effective July 1, 2025, include new benefits for purchases at Dell Technologies and Adobe, along with expanded travel and hotel perks. The company plans to invest its largest amount yet in refreshing the card, aiming to boost business growth, efficiency, and opportunities.

The Business Platinum Card now provides statement credits for purchases at Dell Technologies and Adobe, adding to existing benefits like wireless credit and valuable perks with partners Hilton and Indeed. These new credits, along with existing benefits, support critical business functions, helping owners operate more efficiently.

Travel benefits have also been expanded to cater to business leaders on the move. The card offers access to more than 1,550 lounges worldwide, including The Centurion Lounge network with new locations at Haneda Airport (HND) in Tokyo and Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC) in Salt Lake City in 2025, and Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) in New Jersey in 2026. Additionally, Business Platinum Card Members can enjoy 10 annual visits to a Delta Sky Club when flying on qualifying flights, Airline Fee Credit, a CLEAR® Plus Credit, and a fee credit for Global Entry or TSA PreCheck®. Exclusive hotel benefits include access to over 2,600 Fine Hotels + Resorts® and The Hotel Collection properties globally, with perks such as 4:00 p.m. late checkout, daily breakfast, room upgrades, and on-property credits.

Employees can also benefit from the card through the Employee Business Platinum Card option, which includes access to The Centurion Lounge, 10 annual Delta Sky Club visits, and status with Marriott Bonvoy® Gold Elite Status and Hilton Honors Gold Status. There is also an Employee Business Expense Card option with no annual fee.

The Business Platinum Card offers features like Virtual Cards for enhanced security and control over vendor-specific or one-time purchases, and Pay Over Time for flexible cash flow management. American Express also provides award-winning global service, including dispute handling, emergency assistance, and fraud protection.

These enhancements come as American Express aims to maintain its competitive edge in the premium card market. The company has demonstrated resilience in recent quarters, with a 23% price increase during the last quarter, attributed to strategic moves and stable earnings growth. The enhanced Business Platinum Card benefits may act as a stabilizing factor amidst broader market volatility, potentially impacting revenue and earnings forecasts by bolstering customer loyalty and spending.

American Express has a strong track record, with a total shareholder return of 243.60% over the past five years, though it underperformed the US Consumer Finance industry in the past year. The company's share price movement, currently at US$310.65, reflects a modest discount compared to the price target of approximately US$318.02, indicating market recognition of its efforts to support stable earnings growth.

American Express' recent enhancements to the Business Platinum Card demonstrate its commitment to delivering value to its members, potentially driving revenue and earnings growth in the long term.
