"America is Ready for President Harris": Obama Praises Harris, Condemns Trump at DNC
On Tuesday, former President Barack Obama attended the Democratic National Convention. He warned of a closely contested race between Harris and Trump and harshly criticized the latter as dangerous, chaotic, and lacking empathy.
Obama said, "This will still be a tight race in a closely divided country. A country where too many Americans are still struggling, where a lot of Americans don't believe the government can help, and as we gather here tonight, the people who will decide this election are asking a very simple question, who will fight for me? Obama said. Who's thinking about my future? About my children's future?"
It was the second day of the Democratic National Convention in the United States. Obama also criticized Trump, saying he would not lose sleep over the difficulties of the American people.
"One thing is for certain, Donald Trump is not losing sleep over that question," he added.
Obama also called Trump dangerous, believing that power is just a means for him to achieve his ends.
"He killed a bipartisan immigration deal, written in part by one of the most conservative Republicans in Congress. That would have helped secure our southern border because he thought trying to actually solve the problem would hurt his campaign, he added. He also doesn't seem to care if more women lose their reproductive freedoms since it won't affect his life."
Obama accused Trump of never stopping whining about his problems, and also afraid of losing to Kamala. He said, We do not need four more years of bluster and bumbling and chaos. We have seen that movie before and we all know that the sequel is usually worse.
On the contrary, Obama praised Harris highly. He said that Biden has passed the torch to Harris, and the United States is ready for a new chapter of President Harris.
He said, "America is ready for a new chapter. America's ready for a better story. We are ready for a President Kamala Harris. We need a president who actually cares about the millions of people all across this country who wake up every day to do the essential, often thankless work to care for our sick clean our streets and deliver our packages, and stand up for their rights to bargain for better wages and working conditions."
"And Kamala can be that president. Yes, she can," he emphasized.
In his speech, Obama also said that making Biden his vice president was one of his best decisions. He also listed the achievements of President Biden during his tenure and said, History will remember Joe Biden as a president who defended democracy at a moment of great danger.
Stay tuned for the heartbeat of the US election and political.
