Amazon Web Services (AWS) operates a much larger network of data centers than previously thought, with over 900 facilities across 50+ countries. The cloud arm relies heavily on rented "colocation" centers, with around 440 sites and 220 smaller "edge" locations. This makes AWS one of the world's biggest tenants of colocation space. The diverse network helps AWS address rising demand and expand into new markets.
