Amazon Recalls Highlight Pura Scents' Fragrance Diffusers Over Child Safety Concerns

Pura Scents has initiated a significant recall action involving approximately 851,400 Pura 4 Smart Home Fragrance Diffusers in the United States, along with an additional 1,100 units in Canada, due to a safety concern identified by the company. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) facilitated the announcement of the recall. The affected diffusers were sold from August 2023 through May 2025. This recall arises from the revelation that certain detachable covers of these diffusers contain magnets that could potentially become loose. Such a defect presents a serious ingestion hazard to children and pets. If ingested, these magnets can attract each other or other metallic objects once inside the digestive system, which can result in severe internal injuries, including perforations, intestinal twisting, blockages, infection, and, in extreme cases, blood poisoning or death.

The Pleasant Grove-based company has received three reports of magnets detaching from the diffusers, though no injuries have been reported to date. In response, Pura Scents has urged consumers to immediately dispose of these detachable covers and keep the diffusers out of the reach of children and pets. The company is providing a free replacement cover for affected customers. The diffusers were previously available for purchase online through major retailers such as Amazon and Target, in addition to their physical stores and Scheels locations. The serial number ranges implicated in this recall include JX230000001 to JX230801425 and JX240000001 to JX240049959. The product retailed for approximately $50. The company assures that it is reaching out directly to known purchasers to facilitate the replacement process and expresses its commitment to consumer safety and satisfaction.
