JetBlue (NASDAQ: JBLU) has announced a partnership with Amazon's Project Kuiper to upgrade its onboard Wi-Fi service, Fly-Fi, to faster and more reliable connectivity. This move, set to begin in 2027, marks a significant evolution in inflight connectivity and is part of JetBlue's ongoing strategy to enhance customer experiences.

The partnership will see JetBlue introduce Project Kuiper's advanced low Earth orbit satellite broadband network on a portion of its fleet. This technology promises high-speed, low-latency internet, significantly improving the Fly-Fi service. Currently, JetBlue offers free, high-speed Fly-Fi on every aircraft using advanced geostationary Earth orbit (GEO) satellite technology. The integration of Project Kuiper will enhance this service, providing faster speeds and lower latency.

The agreement aligns with JetBlue's JetForward strategy, which focuses on delivering customer-valued perks and products. "Our agreement with Project Kuiper marks an exciting leap forward for us as the hands-down leader in onboard connectivity," said Marty St. George, president of JetBlue. "Whether it's binge-watching a favorite show, staying connected with loved ones, or wrapping up a work project, we're always looking for ways to make our customers' time in the air as connected and productive as they want it to be."

Amazon's Project Kuiper aims to provide high-speed, low-latency internet to customers and communities around the world. The system is built around a constellation of thousands of satellites in low Earth orbit, connected by high-speed optical links to create a mesh network in space, and linked to a global network of antennas, fiber, and internet connection points on the ground. Amazon has already deployed more than 100 satellites and is continuing to increase its production, processing, and launch rates.

JetBlue expects to begin rolling out Project Kuiper's system in 2027 with a phased rollout to follow. More details on installation timelines, routes, and aircraft will be shared as things progress. This partnership underscores JetBlue's commitment to innovation and customer satisfaction, positioning the airline as a leader in inflight connectivity.
