Amazon plans to cut around 14,000 jobs from its white-collar workforce, citing a need to be "organized more leanly, with fewer layers and more ownership, to move as quickly as possible for our customers and business." The layoffs are the company's largest corporate job cuts to date, reflecting a trend among tech firms trimming positions to fund AI investments. Amazon said affected employees will receive 90 days to find a new position within the company.
