Amazon Pharmacy is offering the drugs for as much as 97% off peak price, bringing a dramatic affordability shift for eligible Medicare patients. For a category that has felt expensive and hard to access, that kind of discount can change the conversation.

Amazon says the program will save customers about $300 million. That does not prove long-term demand will stay high, but it does show how quickly lower prices can widen access.

The competitive angle is just as important as the price cut. CVS and Walmart are also moving deeper into weight-loss treatment access. In that setting, convenience may matter as much as savings. Amazon is pushing the entire enrollment process - including eligibility verification, prior authorization, and billing and offering same-day delivery in more than 3,100 cities.
