AMZN--
The new Ashray centres will be operational year-round, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., and are located in high footfall areas such as petrol pumps and commercial rental spaces. Each centre can accommodate up to 15 people at a time and offers free access for up to 30 minutes per visit, along with convenient parking spaces. The locations of these centres are also added to Google Maps for easy access by delivery associates.
Amazon India's goal is to establish 100 such centres by the end of 2025. Currently, the company operates 65 Ashray centres across 13 cities, with 24 centres in Delhi NCR alone. The expansion is expected to enhance the working conditions for delivery partners, particularly during the peak shopping season.
The collaboration with HPCL has been instrumental in this rapid expansion. "By reimagining our fuel stations with Amazon, we're creating essential havens for delivery partners across India," said Murali Krishna V Vadrevu, Executive Director, HPCL. "The initiative will provide delivery partners moments of respite during demanding days."
Amazon's commitment to the well-being of its delivery partners is evident through the inclusive approach of Project Ashray. "At Amazon, the well-being of our delivery partners is fundamental to everything we do," said Ashleigh de la Torre, Vice President of Amazon U.S. Transportation, Sustainability, and Kuiper Public Policy. "The opening of our new Ashray Centre in Delhi demonstrates this commitment by creating a welcoming hub where drivers can access essential amenities, comfortable spaces, and rest areas throughout their day."
The expansion of Project Ashray coincides with Amazon India's plan to create over 150,000 seasonal jobs ahead of the festive season. This initiative supports 1.6 million sellers during the peak shopping period with enhanced delivery capabilities.
