Alternergy says five bids for govt renewable projects accepted

Alternergy Holdings Corporation (Alternergy) has secured five renewable energy projects nationwide following the acceptance of its bids under the Department of Energy’s (DOE) fourth green energy auction. This marks a significant milestone for the publicly-listed firm as it continues to expand its project pipeline across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao [1].

The projects, which are yet to be disclosed in detail, are part of Alternergy’s strategic initiative to develop a nationwide renewable energy portfolio. This move underscores the company’s commitment to sustainable energy solutions and its role in driving the Philippine government’s renewable energy targets.

The DOE’s green energy auctions have been instrumental in promoting renewable energy projects by providing a platform for private companies to bid for government-supported projects. These auctions have helped attract significant investments in the renewable energy sector, contributing to the country’s clean energy transition.

In addition to its recent success, Alternergy is also poised to benefit from the growing global market for SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems in renewable energy. The SCADA market is projected to grow substantially, with a forecasted increase from USD 1.96 billion in 2025 to USD 3.56 billion by 2030, reflecting a CAGR of 12.7% [2]. The wind energy segment, in particular, is expected to exhibit significant growth due to robust clean energy policies and smart grid investments. Key market players like Siemens, Schneider Electric, and ABB are investing heavily in advanced SCADA solutions to enhance operational efficiency and regulatory compliance.

The global shift towards renewable energy is also evident in Malaysia, where ReNIKOLA Holdings has been chosen to lead two large-scale solar projects under the country’s renewable energy program. These projects, with a total capacity of 618 MWp, are expected to attract an investment of USD 285.37 million and are scheduled to be commissioned by the end of 2027 [3]. This development aligns with Malaysia’s broader strategy to reduce coal dependence and meet growing electricity demand, particularly from data centers.

The success of these projects highlights the increasing importance of renewable energy in meeting global energy demands while promoting sustainable development. As Alternergy continues to expand its renewable energy portfolio, it is well-positioned to capitalize on the growing market opportunities and contribute to the country’s energy transition.
