Almadex Minerals Ltd. (AMX.V) has unveiled a significant geophysical discovery at its New Hope copper porphyry project in Arizona, USA, marking a potential breakthrough in its quest to identify a high-grade, concealed copper-gold deposit. The April 2025 press release highlights a 1-kilometer-wide IP (induced polarization) chargeability anomaly, aligned with surface geological features suggestive of a shallowly buried porphyry system. For investors, this development raises intriguing questions about the project’s drilling potential and its implications for Almadex’s valuation.

The IP survey, conducted using advanced equipment and software (including RES2DINV inversion tools), identified a conductive zone with elevated chargeability values—key signatures of sulfide mineralization at depth. This anomaly coincides with surface expressions of quartz and magnetite veining, which previous mapping (April 2024) revealed in densities exceeding 10 veins per meter in core zones. Such veining is often associated with the upper levels of porphyry systems, where hydrothermal fluids deposit sulfides and alteration minerals.
The 3.5-by-1.5-kilometer lithocap alteration zone at New Hope—a hallmark of porphyry copper systems—further supports the hypothesis of a deeper, concealed mineralized body. Lithocap alteration zones typically form above porphyry deposits, acting as a “geological roadmap” for explorers.
The New Hope project sits within Arizona’s prolific copper belt, 35 kilometers from the historic Lone Star mine and 50 kilometers from the Morenci mine, one of the largest copper operations in North America. The proximity to world-class deposits strengthens the project’s credibility, as porphyry systems often cluster in regions with favorable tectonic and magmatic conditions.
Almadex has already secured a drill permit and plans a “first-pass” diamond drilling program to test the anomaly. The company’s in-house expertise and existing infrastructure (e.g., access roads, water rights) could reduce exploration costs, a critical advantage in a sector where drilling budgets often stretch thin.
While the geophysical data is promising, investors must weigh the risks. Geophysical surveys alone are not definitive proof of mineralization, and drilling outcomes are inherently uncertain. Almadex also faces external risks, including permitting delays, fluctuating copper prices, and financing challenges.
The company’s stock has been volatile, reflecting the exploratory nature of its projects. However, if drilling confirms the presence of a porphyry system at New Hope—a deposit type that can host millions of tons of copper—the project’s value could surge. For context, the Morenci mine alone holds over 10 billion pounds of copper reserves.
Porphyry copper deposits are often large-scale and long-lived, making them attractive for investors. The U.S. Geological Survey estimates that porphyry copper systems account for roughly half of global copper resources, underscoring their strategic importance. In Arizona, the prolific Bagdad and Ray mines, both porphyry systems, have produced billions of pounds of copper.
Crucially, New Hope’s anomaly is not an isolated find. The veining, lithocap alteration, and geophysical signatures form a coherent geological package—a rarity in early-stage exploration. This alignment reduces the “exploration gamble” typically associated with greenfield projects.
Almadex’s New Hope project stands at a critical juncture. The geophysical anomaly, coupled with surface geochemistry and lithocap features, provides a compelling target for drilling. If successful, the project could transform the company’s valuation, especially in a market where copper demand is rising due to EV adoption and renewable energy infrastructure.
However, investors must remain cautious. Drilling could take months, and even a positive result may require further studies to quantify reserves. Meanwhile, Almadex’s current market cap—approximately [insert data via
