Alipay+ and Kaspi.kz Enhance International Payment Acceptance in Kazakhstan

Alipay+ and Kaspi.kz have enabled international cross-border QR payment acceptance in Kazakhstan, allowing users to pay via Kaspi QR using their Alipay+-enabled e-wallets or bank apps. This partnership enables local merchants to leverage Kazakhstan's digital payment infrastructure and benefit from tourism growth by accepting more international payment options. Kazakhstan has welcomed a record 7.5 million international visitors in the first half of 2025, with travelers from China, Germany, and South Korea being top arrivals.

Alipay+ and Kaspi.kz have recently partnered to enable international cross-border QR payment acceptance in Kazakhstan, allowing users to pay via Kaspi QR using their Alipay+-enabled e-wallets or bank apps. This collaboration leverages Kazakhstan's digital payment infrastructure, benefiting from the country's tourism growth by accepting more international payment options [1].

The partnership, which builds on an earlier agreement enabling Kazakhstanis to use Kaspi.kz for overseas payments via Alipay+, now allows international travelers to seamlessly make payments in Kazakhstan. This development is particularly significant as Kazakhstan has welcomed a record 7.5 million international visitors in the first half of 2025, with travelers from China, Germany, and South Korea being top arrivals [2].

Edward Yue, General Manager for SEA, South Asia, and ANZ at Ant International, expressed enthusiasm about the expanded partnership. Mikhail Lomtadze, CEO and Co-founder of Kaspi.kz, also highlighted the benefits of the partnership. "Since last year, in partnership with Alipay+, Kazakhstanis began to pay in some of their favorite travel destinations using the Kaspi.kz super app. Now, we’re taking our partnership one step further. Guests visiting Kazakhstan can now pay via Kaspi QR using their Alipay+ enabled e-wallets or bank apps," Lomtadze said.

The partnership aligns with Kazakhstan's strategic efforts to enhance its digital payment infrastructure and attract more international visitors. By facilitating seamless cross-border payments, the collaboration aims to boost the country's tourism sector and overall economic growth.
