Alchemy Pay, a prominent global fiat-crypto payment gateway, has secured a Money Transmitter License (MTL) in South Carolina. This achievement marks a significant milestone as it expands its regulatory footprint within the United States, now holding MTLs in ten states. The other states include Arkansas, Iowa, Minnesota, New Hampshire, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Oregon, Wyoming, and Arizona. This development underscores Alchemy Pay's commitment to regulatory compliance and its strategic growth within the U.S. financial sector.
The MTL, issued by the South Carolina Attorney General in accordance with the South Carolina Anti-Money Laundering Act, enables Alchemy Pay to engage in a wide range of regulated financial activities. These activities include electronic money transmission, the issuance and sale of stored value instruments, payment and remittance processing, foreign currency exchange, and other licensed money services. With this license, Alchemy Pay is authorized to offer its suite of fiat-crypto on-ramps and off-ramps within South Carolina, facilitating seamless transactions between traditional fiat currencies and cryptocurrencies.
This regulatory advancement coincides with a period of increasing clarity and progress in U.S. digital asset legislation. The recent passage of the GENIUS Act by the U.S. Senate, coupled with heightened institutional interest in real-world assets (RWA), signifies a pivotal moment for the blockchain and fintech industries. Alchemy Pay's newly secured license positions the company to play a crucial role as an on and off-ramp infrastructure provider, supporting the emerging RWA ecosystem.
The South Carolina license is a key component of Alchemy Pay's broader regulatory strategy. It lays the groundwork for future initiatives, such as the company's fiat-accessible RWA platform, which is slated to launch in August. This platform will initially offer 60 tokenized stocks and ETFs in collaboration with Backed and xStocks. As Alchemy Pay continues to expand its global compliance footprint, these foundational licenses will support the seamless integration of innovative products that bridge traditional finance and Web3, ultimately enhancing accessibility to tokenized assets via familiar fiat payment methods.
In addition to its U.S. expansion, Alchemy Pay is making notable progress in key jurisdictions worldwide. The company holds an Authorised Payment Institution (API) License in the United Kingdom, is registered as a Digital Currency Exchange Provider under AUSTRAC in Australia, and has obtained membership in Switzerland's VQF, a FINMA-recognized Self-Regulatory Organisation (SRO). It also holds an MSB (Money Services Business) registration in Canada and maintains formal registration for electronic financial services in South Korea. Furthermore, Alchemy Pay is actively pursuing compliance under Europe's Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regulation and seeking key regulatory licenses in China Hong Kong, further solidifying its global regulatory posture in anticipation of the next wave of Web3 financial infrastructure.
Alchemy Pay's commitment to regulatory compliance and strategic expansion positions the company as a leader in the fiat-crypto payment gateway sector. With its growing regulatory coverage and innovative product offerings, Alchemy Pay is well-positioned to support the seamless integration of traditional finance and Web3, ultimately enhancing accessibility to tokenized assets via familiar fiat payment methods.
