Airbus SE - 2025 deliveries to date 306
Airbus SE (OTC:EADSY), the European aircraft manufacturer, has delivered approximately 306 aircraft in the first half of 2025, according to preliminary figures cited by Bloomberg [1]. This delivery rate is slightly more than 300 planes, falling short of the pace needed to meet its annual target of 820 aircraft deliveries. To be on track for its full-year goal, Airbus would have needed to deliver 410 planes by June. The company's delivery performance in June was particularly notable, with Airbus delivering around 60 aircraft, according to the same sources [1]. This delivery rate indicates that Airbus is behind schedule and will likely rely on increased production during the final months of the year to catch up to its delivery objectives.
In a significant development, AirAsia Bhd has reached a tentative agreement to purchase up to 70 extended-range Airbus SE jets, as part of a broader strategy to expand its fleet and network [2]. The memorandum of understanding covers 50 A321XLR jets with options for 20 more, valued at approximately $12.3 billion. These jets, with the longest reach of any narrowbody aircraft, are expected to begin arriving by 2028. AirAsia plans to use the XLRs to open up routes in China, India, and other parts of the Asia-Pacific region, which would be uneconomical for larger planes requiring more fuel.
The agreement underscores the growing demand for Airbus aircraft, particularly among Asian airlines. It also highlights Airbus's strategic focus on long-range narrowbody aircraft, which are becoming increasingly important for airlines looking to expand their networks and reduce operational costs.
As Airbus works to meet its annual delivery target, the company will likely benefit from the increased production and delivery of aircraft like the A321XLR. The strategic orders from airlines such as AirAsia, which is looking to order up to 150 more jets, will also contribute to the company's overall growth and market share.
