Software stocks are under threat from new AI tools and features, but how real is that threat? CNBC's Deidre Bosa and I used Anthropic's AI coding tool "Claude Code" to create a replacement for Monday.com, a project management platform with a $5 billion market cap. The AI tool was able to build a functioning prototype in minutes and even added features like a calendar. The most exposed names are software companies that "sit on top of the work" like Atlassian, Adobe, and HubSpot, while cybersecurity stocks like CrowdStrike and Palo Alto may be safer.
