AI and Machine Learning in the Fight Against Antimicrobial Resistance: GSK and Imperial College London Launch Six Grand Challenges

GSK and the Fleming Initiative have formed an alliance to tackle antimicrobial resistance (AMR) using advanced AI and scientific expertise. Six research programs, known as "Grand Challenges," aim to discover new antibiotics, accelerate antifungal drug development, and improve antibiotic stewardship. The programs will utilize AI and machine learning to tackle multi-drug-resistant Gram-negative bacteria and identify vulnerabilities in fungi like Aspergillus. The alliance aims to open up new approaches for AMR discovery and stimulate further research globally.
