AES and Partners Accused of Monopolizing LNG-to-Power Market in Panama

Sinolam LNG Terminal and Sinolam Smarter Energy LNG Power Co. have filed a lawsuit against AES Corporation and partners, alleging a scheme to monopolize the LNG-to-power market in Panama and the region. The complaint alleges that AES used coercive tactics, misuse of confidential information, and improper influence over government regulators to eliminate competition and secure monopoly control. Sinolam claims it lawfully secured regulatory approvals and long-term customer commitments, but AES viewed it as a threat to be eliminated. The lawsuit seeks damages for the alleged exclusion from the market and destruction of expected economic value.
