Abcourt Mines Inc. (TSX Venture: ABI) (OTCQB: ABMBF) has recently announced a significant milestone in its exploration efforts on the Flordin Property, located in the Lebel-sur-Quévillon area of Quebec. The company has confirmed the successful gravimetric gold recovery from the high-grade Horse Zone, demonstrating the ease of gold extraction from the mineralized material. This breakthrough has important implications for Abcourt's mining and processing costs, as well as the overall development of the Flordin Property.
The recent drilling campaign on the Flordin Property, completed in the fall of 2023, validated the presence of new high-grade gold zones near the surface. Hole FL-23-265 intersected two gold mineralized zones, returning 3.58 g/t gold over 4 m and 14.79 g/t gold over 4 m, respectively. The mineralization consists mainly of fine cubic pyrite disseminated in a sheared, strongly hematized, and ankeritized basalt. This style of mineralization is different from that previously observed on the property and is characterized by its proximity to the surface, less than 50 m vertical, and its lateral continuity over more than 200 m.
The gravimetric test conducted on a 30-kilogram composite sample from channel 11 of the Horse Zone (29 g/t over 4 m) confirmed the ease of gold recovery from the mineralized material. The test involved simple gravimetric concentration on a shaking table, producing a coarse material of 15 kilograms with a grain size of 212 microns. The first stage of concentration resulted in a pyrite-rich concentrate, while the second stage allowed for the removal of waste pyrite and the recovery of free gold grains. The fineness of the gold, often less than 100 microns, contributed to the efficient recovery of the precious metal.
The successful gold recovery from the Horse Zone has important implications for Abcourt's mining and processing costs. High-grade mineralization reduces the amount of material to be processed, lowering milling costs. Additionally, the ease of gold recovery suggests lower processing costs, which could lead to increased profitability per ounce. This breakthrough further strengthens Abcourt's position in the region and supports its development strategy of focusing exploration efforts within a 100 km radius around its Sleeping Giant mill.
Abcourt is currently conducting an induced polarization geophysical survey on the Flordin Property to identify new mineralized zones and assess their continuity. The survey, with 25-meter spacing and a depth of 200 meters, covers a 1-kilometer portion between the 2023 drilling and the recently stripped Cartwright Zone. The results of this strategic geophysical survey will be communicated as soon as they become available, potentially leading to new targets for follow-up drilling.
The confirmation of gravimetric gold recovery from the Horse Zone on Abcourt's Flordin Property is a significant milestone in the company's exploration efforts. This breakthrough demonstrates the ease of gold extraction from the mineralized material, with important implications for mining and processing costs. As Abcourt continues to develop the Flordin Property, the successful recovery of gold from the Horse Zone bodes well for the company's future prospects in the region.
